Southern Oregon Bioscience Industry Consortium (SOBIC)

About SOBIC

In late October 2007, a letter was sent to 20 broadly-defined bioscience companies and organizations located in southern Oregon inviting them to attend a meeting convened by Bob Lanier, Executive Director of the Oregon Bioscience Association (OBA). This letter discussed the possibility of establishing a southern chapter of the OBA.

In attendance at the November 2 meeting were nine executives representing five of those 20 companies and organizations. Several other company executives had replied stating their interest but were unable to attend.

This group met for 2.5 hours identifying and discussing common concerns that they, as bioscience companies, faced in southern Oregon and began to look collectively for answers.

With the encouragement of Bob Lanier of OBA and Ron Fox, Executive Director of SOREDI, it was decided by the group that a consortium be formed to further explore and find solutions to the groups concerns. In response to this interest, the Southern Oregon Bioscience Industry Consortium (SOBIC) was formed.

The Southern Oregon Bioscience Industry Consortium (SOBIC) will look to address and represent the common concerns of southern Oregon bioscience-related companies and to help unify the interests of the consortium as a prominent industry in southern Oregon.
