Challenge: Production engineering group had been trying to increase yield of an important product for a year and had eleven attempted solutions, all of which failed.

First Challenge: Get out of defensive, "foxhole" mindset of the Great Recession and take the offensive and brainstorm how we can double revenues in 5 years.
Bioclaris effort: Two 2-hour meetings with the leadership team.
Results: Over 40 novel ideas. Some of these ideas are deceptively simple and with virtually no expense that we have started executing on them right away. They anticipate with the ideas generated they are on track to double their revenues in 3 years instead of 5.
Second Challenge: R&D team increase throughput from one new product ready for pilot every 18 months to 3-5 every 12 months - within 5 years.
Bioclaris effort: Two 3-hour meetings with the R&D team.
Results: Over 35 ideas, with quite a few simple and no cost to implement. Introverts on team said that Bioclaris allowed them to problem solve in group setting without fear of being judged or worrying about how to express themselves. Team feels they are on track to meet and probably beat the challenge.
Third Challenge: Manufacturing team handling double the throughput without adding staff, as soon as possible.

Two Challenges: increase sales by 80% within three years and achieve 100% customer satisfaction within same time frame.
Bioclaris effort: two 2.5-hour meetings, two 3-hour meetings; one 2-hour meeting to produce the following results.
Results: 65 ideas for “increasing sales by 80%” and 23 ideas for “achieving 100% customer satisfaction”. The ideas were prioritized and those designated for immediate implementation were assigned and ready for scheduling.
